Josh Haber Plays Friendship Games at BABSCon 2016!

Josh Haber

The odds are ever in our favor, tributes, as the one and only Josh Haber has joined the BABSCon 2016 guest list just in time for the savagery known as “Black Friday!”

Since joining My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic last season, Josh has written some of our favorite episodes, including “Castle Mane-ia,” “Leap of Faith,” and “Bloom and Gloom.” His episode, “Simple Ways,” even gave the world what Meghan McCarthy said “might be [her] favorite Rarity performance ever.“

Oh yeah, he also wrote a little thing you might have heard of called My Little Pony: Equestria Girls - Friendship Games.

With his warmth and geeky savoir-faire, Josh will help make BABSCon 2016 a rousing success, joining a guest list that already includes Lauren Faust, John de Lancie, Nicole Oliver, and IDW Comics artist Andy Price, so don't forget to pre-register now.

And watch this space for for some big Black Friday weekend announcements. You won’t want to miss out!

Reminder: BABSCon is still taking panel and event applications and looking for some killer beats for NEIGHhem. Show us that you’re up to the challenge of helping make this year’s BABSCon better than ever.

The Brave and the Bold: BABSCon & Lauren Faust

Hold on to your hooves, because the one and only Lauren Faust is coming to BABSCon 2016!

Lauren needs no introduction, but just in case you do want to be dazzled by her résumé, she was the woman who developed My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic for TV. An accomplished, Emmy Award-winning animator, writer, director, and producer, Lauren has also worked on popular television shows like Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, The Powerpuff Girls, and Wander Over Yonder, and helped animate films including The Iron Giant and Cats Don’t Dance.

In 2014, she joined Sony Pictures Animation to develop and direct the animated feature film, Medusa, and she’s currently the lead character designer and scenarist for the upcoming indie video game, Them’s Fightin’ Herds.

Lauren has long been recognized as an advocate of empowering young girls by providing them with engaging and worthwhile media content. The success of her creative ventures is proof that inspired storytelling and multi-dimensional characters can transform “girls’ entertainment” into a powerful cultural medium for delving into the full spectrum of human experience.

Applications Are OPEN for Vendors, Artists, Panels, Events, and Musicians!

Apply to be a vendor, artist, panelist, presenter, or musician at BABSCon 2016!

Pull up those sleeves and get planning for BABSCon because Vendor, Panelist, and Musician applications are now open! We’re looking for the thinkers, performers, and entrepreneurs among you to help us bring the awesome to BABSCon 2016!

Have a notion for a panel that has a novel “canter” to it? Toss us a panel application that details your potential demo, discussion, or Q&A!

Are you an established musical type skilled in the use of a ukulele… or the latest version of the Pioneer DDJ-SR Performance controller? Enter an application to have your chance at rocking it out during BABSCon’s NEIGHhem!

Or perhaps you’ve created a line of one-of-a-kind crafts that span the purview of pony and beyond. The outcome might involve a sudden emptying of wallets, but you, as a potential vendor, can walk away with the satisfaction of success!

Remember, the more fleshed out and novel the premise you bring us, the better chance you have of breaking through the crowd and leaving your mark this coming April. Do note that all submissions for Vendors, Panelists, and Musicians are not selected on a first-come first-served basis, but rather selected based on what will provide the most varied and fun experience for our attendees.

So sit down, grab a cup of coffee, and get cracking. The clock. Is. TICKING!

  • Vendor & Artist applications will close on October 31st, 2015.
  • Panel, Event, and Musician applications will close on January 15th, 2016.

Andy Price Joins John de Lancie and Nicole Oliver for BABSCon ‘16!

We are pleased to announce Andy Price, the incredible My Little Pony Comic artist from IDW, as our next Guest of Honor joining, that’s right, John de Lancie, the voice of Discord, and Nicole Oliver, the voices of Celestia and Cheerilee. Andy has put talent in some of the most memorable MLP:FiM comics of the series, including the comic’s premiere The Return of Queen Chrysalis Arc, the Reflections Arc, and the soon to be released Siege of the Crystal Empire Arc.  He’s also been putting ponies to paper for us in the Micro Series, the Friends Forever series and the special edition Villain Backstory Set from this past spring.

When Andy isn’t sketching pretty pastel ponies being propelled into potential peril, he’s drawing something else! Beyond comics he’s known to do advertising, storyboards, book covers, book illustrations, trading cards, and more! He has worked with such renowned companies as DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Rittenhouse Archives, Image Comics, SLG Publishing, and Innovation Comics.

Be sure to keep an eye out for Andy in our Vendor Hall too, where you can grab a commision from him! He might even come with partners in crime a.k.a. more creators from IDW, but you’ll have to stay tuned to next month’s issue to find out!

Our premium memberships are going fast and hotel reservations are filling up, so grab yours soon!

BABSCon Gets Chaotic with de Lancie

BABSCon is no stranger to the friends and foes that create and threaten harmony, and we plan on bringing you the best of each! That is why we are pleased to announce John de Lancie, the voice of everyone’s favorite frienemy, Discord, for our 2016 convention at the SFO Hyatt Regency!

You know him well as Equestria’s enemy turned sort-of-trying-to-be-a-good-guy and you know him as Q from Star Trek: The Next Generation. But he’s been tickling our eyes and ears for literally decades with his on-screen and voice acting roles: A heartbreaking turn as devastated father Donald Margolis on Breaking Bad, Colonel Frank Simmons on Stargate SG-1, the all-father Odin on Charmed, Agent Darkbootie on Invader ZIM, Allen Shapiro on Torchwood: Miracle Day, and far more than we can list here. With a star the caliber of John de Lancie, your friendly neighborhood BABSCon won’t fail to transform your convention experience.

Keep your eyes and ears peeled everyone, because there's a rumbling that feels like big, groundbreaking things will be happening this coming April.

Oh yes, our premium memberships and hotel reservations are already going fast. So don’t miss out on your chance to hobnob with our honored guests… guests like John de Lancie. ;-)
