BABSCon Sings Sweet Harmony With Kazumi Evans and Shannon Chan-Kent

BABSCon Sings Sweet Harmony With Kazumi Evans and Shannon Chan-Kent

About the only way we could possibly have gotten BABSCon to sing any more sweetly than it already has this year was to invite two of the most melodious voices in all of My Little Pony…in their debut appearance at BABSCon, please welcome Kazumi Evans and Shannon Chan-Kent!

Bronies know Kazumi as the singing voice of Rarity and Luna, and the speaking (and singing!) voices of lead siren Adagio Dazzle in Equestria Girls – Rainbow Rocks, plus Octavia, Moondancer, and Roseluck. Animation fans will also recognize her as the voice of Skipper in the Barbie and Her Sisters series, Iris in LoliRock, and Amanda in Dr. Dimensionpants.

Shannon, meanwhile, is the singing voice of Ponyville’s party planner, Pinkie Pie, on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, as well as the speaking voices of Silver Spoon and Smolder the dragon. In the recent Equestria Girls – Forgotten Friendship, she voiced the villainous Wallflower Blush. You might also know her as Misa Amane in the English dub of Death Note, both Biskit Twins in Littlest Pet Shop, and Trixie in Slugterra. She’s also appeared on screen in shows including The Crossing and the Freeform adaptation of Misfits.

Kazumi and Shannon join Tabitha St. Germain, Maurice LaMarche, Rebecca Shoichet (completing the trio of MLP’s “singing voice of…” VAs), Nicole Dubuc, Brian Hohlfeld, Tony Fleecs, and Sara Richard so far among our Guests of Honor.

So register now to make beautiful music with us this April 19-22, and book your hotel room. Don’t forget that our remaining sponsor-level packages will give you a truly premium experience, so snap them up while they last!

BABSCon Writes Its Own Ticket With Nicole Dubuc & Brian Hohlfeld

BABSCon Writes Its Own Ticket With Nicole Dubuc & Brian Hohlfeld

After all these actors and artists, we thought that perhaps people of letters might be just what this year’s con needed to add a touch of refinement to the proceedings. To that end, BABSCon 2019 is proud to announce the return of Nicole Dubuc and, in his first appearance at our con as a guest, Brian Hohlfeld.

Nicole, fresh from her triumphant tour of Nepal, where she met actual yaks, has been a writer (“Shadow Play,” “School Daze,” “School Raze,” etc.), story editor (Season 8) and executive producer (Season 8) for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. But she is so much more than that…an early employee of Hasbro Studios, she wrote for Transformers: Prime, and developed Transformers: Rescue Bots for the studio. She’s written for a bewildering array of shows, including Star Wars Rebels, Kim Possible, Young Justice, and is developing The Rocketeer, debuting this fall. Her career has also included on-screen and voice roles going back to her childhood.

Brian, a new writer for MLP:FiM in Season 8, wrote the episodes “The Hearth’s Warming Club” and “Surf and/or Turf,” the latter of which was nominated for a Humanitas Prize! He’s written for TV and movies for decades, including the 1991 film He Said, She Said, starring Kevin Bacon, and The Heffalump Movie & Piglet’s Big Movie as part of Disney’s Winnie the Pooh franchise. He was the creator of My Friends Tigger and Pooh (from which the episode “Eeyore’s Sad Day” won a Humanitas Prize!), the co-developer of Transformers: Rescue Bots, and has been nominated for three Daytime Emmys and an Annie Award.

Nicole and Brian join Guests of Honor Maurice LaMarche, Tabitha St. Germain, Rebecca Shoichet, Tony Fleecs, and Sara Richard as they help the BABSCon staff try to make 2019 the best year yet.

So register now, grab a luxurious sponsor badge while they last, book your hotel room, watch for more announcements as the Month of Guests™ continues, and come have fun with us this April!

A Comic Development at BABSCon: We Have Tony Fleecs & Sara Richard!

A Comic Development at BABSCon: We Have Tony Fleecs & Sara Richard!

It’s about to get artistic up in here as BABSCon prepares to welcome two of the bright talents behind the wonderful IDW My Little Pony comic titles: Tony Fleecs and Sara Richard.

Tony Fleecs has drawn My Little Pony comics for almost 6 years. In that time he's drawn over 30 issues & hundreds of covers. This year, look for Tony's art on the IDW MLP Comics mini-series MLP: Nightmare Knights and in the Young Readers book, MLP: Best Gift Ever, A Present for Every Pony from Little, Brown & Co.

Sara Richard is an Eisner Award-nominated artist and illustrator. Her art can be seen on 80+ covers of IDW's My Little Pony comics titles (plus a sole artist credit on Friends Forever #31, written by Tony Fleecs!), and featured on the covers of Jem and The Holograms, Bob's Burgers, Rick and Morty, Miraculous Ladybug, Clue, Ghostbusters, and Deadpool. Sara is also the illustrator of the DC Collectibles' Justice League tarot card set and the new book, The Ghost, The Owl written by Franco and published by Action Lab.

Tony and Sara join Guests of Honor Maurice LaMarche, Tabitha St. Germain, and Rebecca Shoichet as they help the BABSCon staff try to make 2019 the best year yet.

BABSCon Gives the Best Gift Ever: Guest of Honor Maurice LaMarche

BABSCon Gives the Best Gift Ever: Guest of Honor Maurice LaMarche

We know it’s the day before Christmas, but we just couldn’t wait to unwrap our present to you…a present that’s going to  try to take over the world! Apparently, it’s the same thing he does every night when he’s not being a meanie and trying to throw the book at Twilight’s school for the Equestria Education Association.

He’s the legendary Maurice LaMarche, and he’s several of the voices you’ve grown up with. In addition to playing Chancellor Neighsay on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, just a few of his notable roles include The Brain on Pinky and the Brain and Animaniacs; Kif Kroker, Calculon, Morbo, and many more on Futurama; Abradolf Lincler, Morty Jr., and more on Rick and Morty; Egon Spengler on The Real Ghostbusters, and way too many to tell you about here. Additionally, any time you hear Orson Welles animated, it’s almost certainly Maurice: The Critic, Futurama, The Simpsons, and even dubbed over the on-screen body of Vincent D’Onofrio in the live-action film, Ed Wood. (True story!)

In short, we couldn’t be happier to give you the pony con debut of voice acting royalty.

Maurice joins Tabitha St. Germain and Rebecca Shoichet among our guests of honor, and you can expect many more announcements over the next couple of months, so watch this space.

Register now, give the gift of BABSCon to your friends and family, book your hotel room and have the happiest of holidays, from our family to yours. (Note: Taking over the world optional.)
